Orbs

I

Roving, as though twice adream,
across a passel of winking once-weres ;
his face pocked by time’s heels,
blushing gay gray ogling
nude oaks; he quarts.

II

Day’s hue-lease expires and
Sunset prinks herself red
atop a glassy sea of Moby fame.
Sinking tardily to defy
asymptote.

III

But my irides are wrung dry,
and gleaming, I hum
some prayer of the mute;
gamboling in a golden lake
where God burns his mistakes.
