What to Submit?

Forget about poetry for a moment and simply think about what prompts it, what makes it irresistible not to write about or "dwell" upon.. A few years ago I ventured here - let's do it again - it always haunts me in some way. Shizumanu Taiyo is loosely translated to "Never setting sun" and is the title of a Japanese movie about a plane crash, not just any plane crash, it was the worst loss of life of an individual crash in aviation history (520 died and only 4 survived). Read about that (Japan Airlines Flight 123). After that, or along with, read about the story of Diana Yukawa and her relationship to all of it and then listen to her solo performance at the premiere of the film - search Diana Yukawa / Shizumanu Taiyo and play it on youtube and consider what song lyrics you would write to her melody. Mail me with any questions...

Note that song lyrics demand a simpler approach to art, because they are accompanied by a melody, and, if they are accompanied by a melody and visual, they even need less power because they share the stage so to speak. Yet, with the perfect music and the perfect setting, we've all been where we wish we had said that perfect simple  thoughtful thing.......bottom line is don't be complex and ambiguous nor overly ANYTHING - make your words count - no rush- never rush - why?
