THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM?

Tommaso Ceva (1649-1737) the mathematician and poet said ' poetry is a dream ,dreamed in the presence of reason'
Perhaps his calling influenced his comment.
Experience over the years would lean me to the 'dream' aspect as 'reason' can sometimes hamper one in stepping out and trying some poetic form .In my case I dwelt in short forms before venturing forth into longer forms of 'structured prose'.
I listened to the wrong thing and no doubt should have remembered this well known anonymous quote:
It's impossible ..said pride. It's risky ...said experience. It's pointless ..said reason
Give it a try whispered the heart.
Having the inspiration in the first place seems the key ....plus the courage to give it a whirl here on PS as generally speaking this is a friendly workshop of folk of a similar mien
