ANTICIPATION

Emily Bronte of 'Wuthering Heights ' fame ,the middle one of the  sister-novelists/poets trio and sadly the first thereof to die ,aged just thirty.. wrote this first line from her poem 'Anticipation'..

How beautiful the earth is still.

It is so easy to be depressed these days with the 'state of things' and yet like Emily wrote in her poem there are so many beautiful aspects of God' creation..

What still thrills you about the earth's beauty?

Dear Brian: Nature never ceases to inspire me. The unfolding of growth from a seed, the intricacy of an insect, simple photosynthesis, the play of light and shadows. We have stately oaks in a private meadow , riches of Nature that are beyond measure. Thanks for this amazing blog.

We are on a hill, where I live, and from my front porch, I can see the snow-topped peak of Mt. Shasta wedged between the trees north of us. Although it may be 6o miles or more away, it looks much closer. There are times early morning, when everyone is still asleep the sun turns the snow into a pink sugar cone. It is hard to take that for granted...it is quite beautiful. Takes my breath.

The known universe (multiverse?) is an endless struggle between light and darkness; creation and destruction. It seems to me that sentient life is the most beautiful thing of all -- but I, too, love a painted sunset by a tidal shore. :-)

Brian I have a contest going theme something about aging either sonnet(14 line sonnet with 10 syllables per line) or poulter's measure(4 to 7 stanzas)..Sara

Brian , when I am low a walk in nature soothes my soul and walking the rooms of an art gallery has the same effect .... the silence and to be surrounded with the great art of famous painters inspires the muse in me, I feel the same about a library or book store ~

As I write this the late evening sun catches the red of the acer leaves that is framed by our lounge window.Who needs expensive art when nature provides such rich images so close to home without cost.
