I wish we lived in a world that valued the life of the mother and the child, a world where ALL children had equal opportunity and ALL pregnant mothers had healthcare, a world where [as in the past, in matriarchal societies] the children were cared for and the Mom by the extended family of community. A society where if the father dies or leaves or the woman is raped the COMMUNITY takes care of mother and child, sadly we do not. Sadly we live in a patriarchy, were value is placed on the stud and the prowess of conception, and once the child is born there is little or NO support for child or mother, but hey the dudes a stud, and that baby mama wow she fertile fullfilling MANS plan for her.

I praise you Marion for judging poems. Some poems appear to be judgemental about people who choose to have abortions. I think you have done an exceptional job in reading the poem and allowing everyone's freedom to speak and write what they believe. Well done. I do however not think it is appropriate for people to be condemning of those that have abortions. It is not what I would choose however I am not in the shoes of those that may need to make that choice. I honestly don't think God is judging those that have to make very difficult decisions. Believe what you will but don't judge. I have seen terrible things happen to young people who are not wanted in this world, there are always two sides to a story, we need to be objective and view both. Sorry off my soapbox now. Lee

Thank you for my placement, Scribe Marlon Linton. I hope that both teens and adults reading this message, will think twice before killing their unborn. It is murder in the eyes of God...but it also should be in the eyes of the world. Congratulations to all the deserving winners. I wish you continued success, inspiration, health and happiness. Peace & Love, Andrew.
