gosh, I need to borrow your ears how you are hearing things. I honestly cannot tell when a poem of mine would sound better or worse to you. Anyway, Congrats to your recent winners, Brian!! You should blog about other things you like about poetry. If not imagery, is it more about the message? I would like to know, besides readability, what are the other things you are looking for!

One other point concerns the structure of premiere contests. The sponsor is forced to choose. So there is a competition with other poems. This is why I am happy for re submissions in my contests.

WE all have different ears, Brian. That is the struggle . When my ear is hearing something better than yours is. But I get it. It's something we can't really know, Brian. It is all in the subjective mind of who is reading our poetry, for we all are very different.

Andrea ,like all art We cannot write poetry to please another ,we express because we need to do so.Another 'creative'being ' hears the 'voice' in their ear and a unique experience between the two is created .

Andrea you have identified the key point about our art form. When read aloud an 'as is' moment happen between the poets 'voice' and the ear of the hearer. It is unique each time and will change according to the mood of the hearer. It is the same as looking at a piece of art.It is a two way thing ..a happening. Thanks for your support
