My Heart

The stars and moon rose high into the blackened sky, I do my nightly ballet dance around the toys that create a sea of instruments on the floor. This light off, this put here, oh no the blanket isn’t on his toes! All snug, I lay a secret kiss on his perfectly round cheeks, whisper sweet motherly nonsense in his hear. With a half asleep smile, only showing his two vampire teeth, a groggy “mommy” and a hand placed on my face. The hand so small, so warm and yet cold, reached down into my chest and squeezed my heart. He’s the one that makes it beat, makes it pump, makes me not seize it. He is my life, my reasoning, my savior, my love. He will always be my blinding light in the darkest places, he will always be loved and treasured, he’ll always be my lovely baby boy.
