The One and Only

I want to go back….
To us lying under the covers while it poured down with rain,
And to you listening to whatever ramble was in my brain.

I want to go back…
To staring into your crystal blue eyes,
And to neither of us telling each other any lies.

I want...
To watch the corners of your mouth curve as you smile,
And to see all of those things that made our fights worthwhile.

I want to go back…
To holding hands wherever we went,
and to smelling your distinctive smoky sweet scent.

Now you have me thinking.
“Do you do all these things with her?”,
“Is my importance shrinking?”,
“Why is it her that you prefer?”.

These questions are making my head spin.
I let out a warm tear and take a deep breath in.
All because I love you,
but what can I do?
Alas it has come to this.
Oh, what I’d do for one last kiss.

The twang of the blade hitting the ground,
yet I still try to make no sound,
with blood spilling out like a crimson rain.
this was the only way to remove the pain.

Love was the blade,
And you cut me so deep.
the enchanting memories will fade.
Forsaken and past but forever I’ll keep.

You are the one that took my heart,
and you are the one that tore it apart.
splattering my love on a canvas, like art.

You are the one that left me broken.
You are the one that left so much unspoken.

You are the reason we can never be the same.
You are the one and only to blame.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Oh Fran, This is a very emotional poem. I understand your plight but be sure that it has happened for a good reason unknown to you. No condition is permanent and tough times never last.
