Only To See You Happy

It was painful, watching you suffer
To know that the one you love is in pain;
physical, mental, spiritual
However, not being able to do anything about it.

it was painful to know, that no matter what,
you still don't trust me,
to think that I'd runaway, upon hearing your story

It is painful, every time you proclaim your love,
to know that you still doubt me
to know that I'm just a novelty on your shelf

It is painful, to see you walk this path alone,
no guide, no light, no souls
watching you from the sidelines, knowing that you put me there
in fear of breaking me.
In fear that you'd wake up alone one day, knowing it was your fault.

I'm here, my love
and I'll stay, I'll hold your hand and walk with you.
I'll stay with you, until you no longer require me.
until you've found your destination.

until you've found happiness.
your joy
your relief
