Dear Chioma

DEAR CHIOMA

When I looked at you,
I remembered our experimental kiss under the udala tree.
When I looked at you,
I remembered our playful fights in blue waters.
When I look at you,
I remembered that I was nothing but a student.
When I looked at you,
 I remembered you're now Chief Obi's wife.

Now you look at me,
I saw longing in your moist eyes.
Now you look at me,
I saw gloom descend on your face like a black cloud.
Now you look at me, I saw tears trickle down your rosy cheeks.
Because you are not mine.
And I am not yours.
And we shall never belong together again.
