Fallen Queen

I paused
To build my castle
A fortress
With a moat

Pretend I could hideaway
Savour in the solitude
Where I could queen
Independently

Out of harms way
Casting off all feelings
Let happiness
Reign over me selfishly

But that draw bridge
Couldn’t just stay closed
It welcomed you
Stupidly forgetting protocol

I wanted to burn it slow
Instead I set it all on fire
Water filled with gasoline
Caught aflame trapping me

No one here to save me
Since I locked myself away
Alone, but strategically
Now I’m shoveling ashes into graves

Back to building my monsters
The enemies that eventually turn on me
I piece them together so perfectly
Forcing them to revolt against me

Those years spent rehabbing my heart
I thought they’d heal me
That didn’t seem to stick
Now I need to find me again

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
