And There Are Days

…and there are days

…and there are days when the world implodes

And I am funneled violently into its abyss

 It matters little

And I mind it not at all!

It is in this miasma of bits and pieces of things

As I had so wished them to be…

That I find the chaos of it all too familiar…

And words chewed well and spat out

Collected by my already weighted mind.

…and there are days

When a lonely, tattered, and beaten soul

Is found with nothing left to give…

So scoop me up in formidable talons

Rip my heart, consume my everything

…and there are those days

 When laughter is annoying

 Love conditional

And the more you want, the more I give

 Alas, there is nothing left

 But for a solitary stump

 Waiting to provide a respite

…and there are days

 When hugs are not comforting

 Kisses sandpaper rough

 And loneliness fills the void

No body, no heart, no soul

Just a blank sheet of paper that was once the impetus

That gave rise to hopes, dreams

The could have, should have, might have

 Created, and often did,

 My mind, me

Coloring each open space with possibilities…

And then there were days!
