Is It Time For Me To Die

IS IT TIME FOR ME TO DIE? by Joan Geitz

Just a child, I was
Every day, ... a new day
With the expectation
Of a new adventure,
The Hope of acceptance,
Of new friends, Of Love.
Not a time for me to die.

So much to learn as a child
Though the tears flowed
With endless growing pains,
Hope was always there
To lighten and brighten my day.
I was young, resourceful,
Energetic ... Undaunting!
Someone to Love me … was out there.
Not a time for me to die.

And so it goes – Decade after Decade --
Struggle ... then Hope!
Disappointment ... then Hope!
Loss .... then Hope!
Love … the source of Hope!

But not now.
Love has been ridiculed,
Swallowed up by Hate.
DO. ... NOT. … LOSE. … HOPE!

Does not Love lurk Somewhere???
Or does it?

Old I am, now.
Love came and left.
Came again, and left.
And so it went. but … Love ...
Always allowed me to Hope.
Allowed me to begin a new day
It was Hope that spoke to me:
“Do not worry. It is still
Not a time for you to die.”

The anticipation of Love.
For young – and old alike.
Everyone depends on it.
But the year is ending,
And in America ... my country …
Love has been – TRUMPED – by Hate.

I am appalled and disillusioned with the human race.
I am ashamed of America.
I am mourning the death of the Hope
It once gave to humanity.

I am old. I am Tired.
Alas! HOPE. … HAS. … ABANDONED. ... ME.
Is it NOW my time to Die?
