As I Lay Here Dying

As I lay Here Dying

1
As I lay here dying
I set myself up for failure
I try my best
Is it going to be good enough?

I try my best
But, there is still judgment
I have not reached my potential
Who decides what my potential is?

I have not reached my potential
What am I doing?
Is it right?
Who is the judge of me?

My piers,
My teachers,
My parents,
Strangers?

Why do I care what they think?
What gives them the right to judge me?
What makes them so special?

Society?

2
I look at Facebook,
I look at Twitter,
I look at Instagram,
I check my Snapchat,

When I hear the ding
My pulse starts to race
I am happy,
I am, happy?

It makes me happy,
It fills the void,
I think?

3
Everyone is doing it,
Its normal,
Its how I talk to my friends,

I can’t stop.

4
As I lay here dying
