Angels Sing

They say it’s cold on the hills at night,
As shepherds watch their sheep, and fight
The urge to close the eye to sleep;
They say that many a shepherd has lost the mind
As darkness overcomes the senses
And drives the demons deep inside, away from light
Then sheltered with the sheep in the fold;

When a fire flames bright, eyes turn to fright
As the sounds of the night echo loud;
And in the depths of the sky so dark
And light is seen as a supernatural strain
When Angels begin to sing
The shepherds query their sanity and sanctity
While watching the sky as stars begin to dance;

These shepherds, cold, stood shaking, bold,
As the voices they heard from above
And the fire burned bright as the stars that night
While shepherds hear the Angels sing
A song about a coming King and the place he is born;
Then sight and sound explodes around
While shepherds hurl themselves to the ground;

And Angels sing their hallelujahs, as shepherd’s quake,
While every moment takes history to a brand new place;
These shepherds run towards the town
To see the child, a King without a crown
And Angels sing their hallelujahs as they see the scene
When shepherds enter the down town stable
And give worship to the new born King;

Angels sing that first Noel, the day the world was changed;
Shepherds sing the joyful refrain and regain the flock
As to the hills they return convinced their day complete;
Angels sing the song that resounds around the globe
With every voice in heaven echoing to the tune
Then shepherds around their fire rejoice
As Angels gather with their host and worship Christ the King.
