Asanda Zininzi Vitshima

Asanda Zininzi Vitshima

I want to wear a picture of you on my chest
Not to tell the world that you were once mine
But to see you whenever I look down and know that
I have you and I will never fall

I do not care if I meet a woman that might be my next
Surely she will understand that, that is where my heart finds rest
She will ask if she must or simply walk away
There comes a time in one’s life
That they must mind their own business
And for me, it is what we created

We loved each other until we started looking alike
My home was yours and yours was mine
We switched mothers and we laughed until we cried
Any day was a holiday
We travelled and danced even though we couldn’t
Money, was never an issue
You are always on my mind

So many times we tried to mend it
We tried to run from it
Until you put it in a frame and I saw it hanging
Our love on the wall, nothing to match it
We just accept that this is it
We will always be in each other’s absence
