A Lover's Test

Why do my lady’s lips shimmer with blood?
Just yesterday we kissed like lovers do;
your dress once fine is torn and stained with mud,
and skin so grey has lost its normal hue.
Was it last night while I was fast asleep,
that from a bite you turned from life to death?
How could fate cast a lethal cut so deep
and steal her life by smothering her breath?
I ought to slice her head with razor sword -
But, how when love for her beats in my chest?
My need to have her still I do implore;
so as she Staggers here, this is our test.

I cast away the sword oh Zombie Queen;
I’d rather share your curse and be with thee.
