Sun-Dial's Foreshadowing Time

As the day lengthens
and sun grows high,
your shadow shortens
as the day goes by,

and i think of you
in noon's repose,
and wonder where
your shadow goes.

Then there you are
on the other side,
in shadow's length
you no longer hide,

afternoon shadow
you slowly slide,
abiding once again
'til your light's revived.

One more thing I'll say
before I'm through,
I've never before met
a gnomon like you.

I too have to confess my ignorance concerning the word "Gnomon". Well, well...You live and learn. Cracking little poem, Mr Tudor - A seven! My very best regards. :) john

J, I thought the thing on a sundial that casts the shadow is called its "style". Never heard of gnomon. Learn something new every day. And thanks for stopping by. / M

Always nice to learn a new word ... were it a "garden gnomon", that would be really something ... lol. I enjoy poems that are written about the less common things ... nicely done James.

I've never heard a sun dial called a gnomon til now. Interesting personified rhymes, James. Very nice.
