My birthday was the last day
She doesn't love me anymore
That day was the worst day
How it shook me to the core
The day before, the day that follows
Either one she could have chose
I never saw this coming
I never knew her heart had froze
The fault is mine, mistakes were made
That much I can admit
Our time together has run out
The flame no longer lit
She deserved much more from me
I was caught up in the life
Not just your average woman
More than suitable to wife
Late nights with not one call
Left at home alone
Waiting up with great disgust
Staring at the phone
I chose my friends, I chose the streets
Living for the high
Wasted time for so so long
No longer will she try
I understand and see it now
The reason crystal clear
Had I focused on the little things
My love would still be here
I've said it many times
Never before was it for real
This time it was different
The butterflies that I could feel
Three simple words
With the strength of all man
Love so very fast
Unexpected with no plan
I knew the love was real
I just didn't know how to use it
I took it all for granted
Never thought that I would lose it
You finally had enough
No words could change the way you feel
That last phone call you made to me
I wish it wasn't real
Over ten years later
You still remain a friend
I've made it clear on how I feel
I'd do it all again
The love I felt was real indeed
For certain I can say
The love is here right now for you
The love will always stay
Together or apart
You still remain a friend
