On the Pretense of My Enemy

Possibly friendly
soft eyes, smile
and laugh
you're funny.... go on
That's it
I let you in, too
see..... I'm funny, too
yeah.... we have things in common
so... tell me
what do you think
can't commit
don't worry
I won't let you forget
we're listening..... waiting
we know.... nobody's perfect
I'll get the man
if not the man
I'll get the boy in you
when you're not looking
when.... nobody's looking
I have them plotting
you'll go
you'll fall for it
and if not.......
well.... you're not as strong
as you think
or noble
or honest
don't know if you should spread
your wings or reveal
your glowing heart
I'll take them both apart
you can't shake me
you came in polished, but
I'll rip your guts out
so desperate to be loved
so..... vulnerable
let me burn you
you don't have to feel
taken.... anymore (I'll leave you with nothing) - drool
come now
I'll show you....
Strength
Knowledge
Bravery
you'll be enlightened
Glowing
all will marvel
and seek you
and desire your wisdom
you'll stand so tall
a beacon
in the delirium of the masses
I'll make you somebody.......
