Waiting For a Sweep
My heart sits in the exact spot in which you left, stuck on the same beat.
Waiting for me to take another breath.
At first all I felt was pain, and tears, hoping to resume our lost love: without defeat.
But you haven't come back, so in the place it waits.
Collecting dust, there it will stay until fate steals the life of it away.
Not that you left it with emotion anyway, even the power of love can't shine through.
Like my withering mind must wait until that beautiful day,
The day you sweep the tears out of my burning eyes.
The moment you help me stitch up my bleeding wrists,
The evening you become wise.
The night you pick up my heart and blow it off with bliss.
I've tried to do it myself but I just can't.
There's no way I feel unless it's blood leaking off my chest,
Because there's a whole where my heart goes, to seal any zest.
So I want you to know I'm still waiting, although possibly in vain,
Just know I'm hoping you'll clean my dusty heart, to finally end the pain.
