Christmas Day

The little girls arise just as the sun hits the horizon
The tiny feet hit the floor as they run out the room, excitement in every step
Large boxes with big shiny bows are enough to make them squeal
Paper is torn left and right as new toys are piled high in the room
An empty glass and plate full of crumbs is left to be cleaned and put away
Snow lightly falls in the yard as boots and mittens are put on
The snow angels and sled track traces are left on the white banks
As coats are hung the girls as dressed with tights and bows
The family is gathered at the table for a warm Christmas feast
Bellies all full, the girls lay their heads to rest
