Holding My Breath

WHAT IF I STOPPED HOLDING MY BREATH?

What if I stopped holding my breath?
So the something stuck can get out
Trying to justify its escape
It makes sounds only I can hear
If I start to gag, and I’m out of time,
Which I am, will I survive?
Would she forgive?
I got close once, cornered it,
Hid it on a clean white page
And put it somewhere in the room.
But she found it anyway, of course she did.
It was just standing there, very quiet,
Looking like the Elephant that it is.
