A Call From the Sea

Water laps onto my hidden feet, soaking the sand that buries them.
I cringe as my tongue rolls around in a bed of bitter salt.
Children shriek with joy as the water takes them in.
I reminisce about a time when I was young, the water my best friend.
It was as if the salt was in my blood.
The sun was the yellow in my hair, its rays were my warmth and comfort, reminding me never to act coldly.
The beach was my home, though I wandered far, far away.
A refuge that was always in my heart.
Water laps onto my hidden feet, soaking the sand that buries them.
I reminisce about a time when I was young, the water my best friend.
Then the seagulls call to me from the sea, telling me to come back home.
