Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome

Never thought those rare things would happen to me,
Like car crashes, the lottery, a bingo win
But here I am, diagnosed with one of those rare things

What are the chances, that I stand with the 700 people
Out of the 8 billion+ in the world,
With this disease

Bouncing around from hospitals,
While keeping the pain company
Waiting for a cure

The problem is, the rarity is close to impossible,
So barely anyone believes,
Just me and my few doctors and surgeons

The hurdle of disbelief, the the hurdle of a risky surgery
I never thought it could be me
That may live a shorter life, if not helped soon

Because there is no cure, no complete relief for me,
And I strain everyday, to get up, and live life
But I try

The weakness has set in, my bones are brittle
I'm anemic,
I have deficiencies, blah blah blah

Not many people really get it,
I vomit 2 lbs a day,
I eat once a day

The pain is continuous,
Sometimes I can't drink water,
I'm up at 3 am because of pain

I wish I could be on a feeding tube
But my doctors won't consider it,
Because I need to suffer some more

I've spent thousands and thousands on procedures,
Been through horrible doctors,
And I've been stabbed by needles to many times

I've passed out in my school's bathroom floor,
I get hot flashes as if I'm 50
I have cold sweats when I sleep

I have no medicine to help me

It's not easy caring on like this
Each symptom like a child,
Needing care and attention

But I just wanted to share what it's like being me

I'm so sorry, Xia. This must be so difficult. I can only imagine it. I will say a prayer for you for God to relieve your suffering or allow you to endure it. May He be your source of help and strength. ( ps. I was an RN for years and remember reading about this syndrome)
