The Most Important Friendship
I made peace with a man i once thought was my enemy the other day.
Our friendship is not on lease and I'm certain it will stay...
Until him and I pass away, for I know we will both die on the same day.
I disliked this man for the insecurities he once felt.
Always quiet and alone and with is problems, he never dealt.
You could see on his face that he was not normal or true.
Why he held back, I honestly have no clue.
Going the extra mile in attempt to hide who he was.
I guess it's because he had fear of how others would judge.
So he lied to himself and denied all the help he was offered.
Insisting in false claims that he just didn't want to be bothered.
And this way he stayed, year after year, and season after season.
Until one day he learned that fear of judgement was a horrible reason...
And realized that what he was doing to himself was a different kind of treason.
So he took off his mask and revealed his true self over time...
And saw that he took the judgement of others just fine.
So now when I see my new friends face in this mirror.
I understand who he is a whole lot clearer.
Sometimes he's still not clear and I don't know what he is trying to say to me.
I'll figure it out one day and just smile back at the man I once thought was my enemy.
