My Grandmother

She is so tired yet, cannot find sleep
The watery eyes make me want to weep
She is more fragile than a newborn child
Just waiting in silence, so meek and so mild
Holding my hand to give her more ease
Asking for help with such silent pleas
She is so weak and afraid to be alone
Wanting to live in her own little home
One day she'll find the sleep she so needs
There'll be no more pain for she'll be at peace
In God's home she will preside
In His Faith she will have died
Looking down upon us with watchful eyes
When it rains, they'll be tears from her eyes
When it is warm I will think of her touch
From the blankets she covered me 'cause she loved me so much
I will never forget this dear love of mine
And, I know someday she'll be all well and fine
She will be able to walk among the trees
And all the beautiful things her eyes will see
No more darkness will she bear
Because she'll be with Him on the Golden Stair.
