Screams and Shoutouts

Swings and roundabouts Screams and shout-outs Brought us together Whatever the weather Preschool drawings reminiscent Heart shape cards always consistent Childhood plays you Juliette Romeo stands wishing duet High school dances Proms first romances First nervous kisses With occasional misses Dates and fun with everyone Young adult lives lived and sung Words of love always spoken Childhood vows said never broken Life... choices collage Careers higher knowledge Work and play Hoping some day To see you somewhere... Low and behold you where there Me with mine You in kind On swings and roundabouts I did loudly shout Your scream cried And love never died

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Now this is excellently-penned free verse, Ronald. I like the short lines, Some free verse seems more like sentences strung together, but yours has that poetic feel and this poem is packed with wonderful images and emotion. Congratulations on your first place! Best wishes, Carolyn
