Outcast

I was born into this
land,
to make my mark on
this world,
A child of a multi
racial society,
Identity a mystery,
equality a necessary
embrace,

A society built by
ancestors from all
walks,
Not a single voice
dominates,
Promises of equal
representation,
Often met with
disappointment,

My childhood was one
of conflict,
Battling wolves in
sheep's clothing,
Struggling to find
meaning,
The search for true
purpose,
overwhelming

Outcast by many for
reasons unknown,
Night spent in
endless agony,
questioning God's
wisdom,
Do i belong in a
society so
unaccepting,
Not only by others
but my own as well,
Their hatred
misguided, but
directed with force
so unrelenting,
My saving grace, an
opportunity to seek
another home
One which would be
more accepting,

I ponder then, what
needs to be done,
Do i yield and seek
mercy,
To those who remain
blind and seek my
fall,
Or do i desire to
bear wings ,
and soar above such
blinding misery,

My comfort in
realizing,
For all those who
hate without
purpose,
That the path they
travel,
Lonely,decaying and
full of gravel,
In this season of
freedom,
I have nothing to
fear anymore...
