There's a Sadness About Her

Shimmering depths of topaz,
twinkling,
Random whimsy, jovial
inklings.
Picture perfect photograph,
Yet, something's out of place.
A ray of light, or so it's said,
Spark of life amongst the dead.
Smoke and mirrors, slight of
hand,
Looks can truly deceive.
Passion, promise, better or
worse.
Forgive, forget, lover's curse.
Screaming inside, silent smile,
Broken beyond repair.
A piece lost here, given there,
Carpe diem, buyer beware.
Secrets dance where shadows
dwell,
And a jaded heart prevails.
The butterfly, live briefly, die.
Reborn again, time after time.
Eventually, with nothing left to
give,
She truly can not receive.

And, when she smiles, the pain
tries to hide.
The beauty shines, truth
denied.
Yet, whispers from passerby,
Know, there's a sadness about
her.

I know a few like this. 'Tis a shame, really. The phrase "fake it 'til you make it" can really only last so long...excellent job!
