The Road
I took the long road on a dark evening.
The smiles,
The miles,
The joyous years,
And the happy tears,
All of those,
I left behind,
The memories,
The amities,
The time together,
Gave me time to gather,
The thoughts
I left behind,
The people,
Who help all,
I will never thank enough,
For they showed me tough,
All of them,
I left behind,
The emotions,
The usual motions,
The life I came to know,
Floating in its flow,
I forgot, and,
I left behind,
I took the long road on a dark evening.
To a place,
A face,
Somewhere,
Anywhere,
For I knew not,
What stood ahead,
In the night,
Without light,
All was dark,
I, a spark,
Wandering to and wondering,
What stood ahead,
Scared and scarred,
Breathing hard,
I closed my eyes,
For it was wise,
Not to guess,
What stood ahead,
I took the long road on a dark evening.
It was not your fault,
I needed to leave,
I needed to see,
I wanted to grow,
I'm sorry,
I left home after a hot and sunny day.
