Read Between the Lines

No matter how I try,
I can’t forget.
An undying song it is.
When I close my eyes,
I see that awful picture.
I feel hurt.
Pain.
I try not to think of it.
Each time I do I tend to cry.
And though I laugh,
There’s no joy in my heart.
You took the knife of distrust,
And jabbed it into my heart.
Blood spilled for a love that I thought was real.
No matter how I try,
This wound won’t stop from bleeding.
This wound doesn’t seem to be healing.
And so I will live in shame,
Of a sin I took no part in,
But because of my love for you,
I am joined to you.
Your sins are my sins,
And my shame is your shame.
