Perfect

So this is my life…
I cried... as I stared at the ceiling
So this is my life…
It crossed through my mind again

Sixteen years I've wasted…
Sixteen years just stopped…
Just devastated…

I would have stayed forever you know
I would have continued to give my all
But lies have a way of destroying…
One lie tore down my “perfect walls”

Could I have rebuilt that image?
And still stayed true to myself?

One look at the mate I had chosen…
Sealed fate
My heart put our marriage to an end

I’m sorry it stopped so abruptly
I’m sorry that “time” couldn't heal
But when I look upon my lovers face
I need to know it’s real

I walked away that summer
I rebuilt my life again
With truth about myself
Truth about him

“Perfect walls”
“Perfect people”
“Perfect marriage”

Don’t deceive yourself in that lies image.

- Lies will always come to light one day - Lies, makes terrible pain. - Dishonesty in a marriage is not acceptable, at least I think. - I feel your disappointment and sadness. - A very well written poem, Amy! - oxox / / Anne-Lise :)
