Liquidity in Stasis

The mere sight of the rose
Brands the cornea
With a radiating heat that
Liquifies the soul-
Drips slowly
Drop by drop
Splashing onto black velvet petals
Glued together with blood.
A maze-like pattern
That could lose a well- intentioned heart with a compass,
Captures small crimson puddles.

A once green stem
As it absorbs
Discarded cells.
The thorns swell and prickle.

Hi Jennifer. I am new to PoetrySoup and am trying to make new friends. I was wandering through the site when I found your wonderful poem. You stimulate the senses with color and contrasting textures. And offer the slightest hint of heartbreak. I enjoyed letting "Liquidity in Stasis" wash over me. I invite you to take a stroll over to my page. You might enjoy "A Jading". I hope we can become better acquainted in the future. Peace...Sam
