Decaying Greens of Autumn Leaves

I ventured by forests
And saw many trees;
Nourished and flawless, the nearest all seemed;
Also, mystified and green…

But as it came, a swift breeze,
Some trees began to wither
From a promised seasonal disease…

As it came through, the invisible & deadly zephyr,
Autumn leaves began to fall and appear;
Vanishing was the light of the trees,
Fading were the variants of green…

(To yellow from green,
To orange from yellow,
To red from orange,
To brown from red,
From brown to nothing;
From green degrees
To depressing brown nothingness
Of such pure green, decaying trees…)

A torrent came,
Of autumn leaves;
They touched and caressed my skin,
But then I heard them whisper and scream:
“Here comes the temporal white freeze”.

The last ones fell
(The few autumn leaves);
My ventures continued
As I kept walking
Through the forest’s decay
Of forgotten splendors
Of appeased greens…
