EVENING TEARS

They said we had nothing to fear
No reason to shed a tear
No need of a spear
No war was so near
No more fights this year
They said we are all black
We’ve got each other’s back
We shall all board the ark
We shall walk through the dark
Strong and steady like the hulk
We shall all see the luck
When the lord sends a mark
They said we are brothers and sisters
No need for blisters
No need of whispers
No more living Hitlers
They said we should love
Share what we have
Respect those above
Rear a white dove
Protect and serve
These is what they said
But lord,
Our hearts are weary with fear
Our eyes are worn out from fear
Streets are silent and scary
Love is no more
Wars and fights
Discrimination
Political assassinations
Children crying
Mothers mourning
Fathers dying
Granaries burning
Walls breaking
Guns and bullets
Swords and ammunitions
Bloodsheds in the news
Battles
Demonstrations
Corruption in the nation
No more love
Broken humanity
Lamentations
Incantations
No hope for tomorrow
No hope for tomorrow
No more hope.
