No Pretty Words

To be young, black, gifted...
And afraid
Dreams deferred
Bills unpaid
Life scripted before I had a chance
Fell from the family tree
And broke every branch
I only had words
Until you found me
But this is Not a love poem
Expression is free
And I still can't afford to pay
So I'll be cheap with these words
I won't say
My Nubian king
Your eyes shine like...
I can get lost in your ocean
Cause you already know your beautiful
See, this is not a love poem
I can't put these type of
 feelings into words
I don't have to speak metaphorically
I don't want to lose you in the simile
No pentameter, no rhyme
Just wanted to tell you...
Living you had been
Like finding ME
Who needs pretty words
When your love like...

Arlette...first I want to officially say welcome to Poetry Soup. I fell in love with the first four lines of this poem. The flow complimented the theme. Great job. Looking forward to reading more of your poetry my dear friend.
