A Love That Was Lost

I have a shoebox filled with old photos
The way it used to be
Is now just a memory
I have to hide it from myself
Because I know
I’ll get lost in my imagination
When I wake up and you’re not there
I close my eyes again
When it all started
I thought I have found my best friend
You were the love of my life
Now we have both moved on
You with your life
Me with mine
I wonder if you ever think of us
How it used to be
Instead you have her
And he has me
If we could do it all again
I think I’d rather keep you as a friend
When did we lose our connection?
How did our love burn out?
We were each other’s everything
Nothing could stop us
Now we don’t even speak
I can’t say I blame you
This love took a toll on both of us
Somehow we lost each other in this cold world.
