Ms Garland

                                          Ms. Garland

Box office draw! What Louie B. had in mind!
Dollar signs for him and all the other thugs!
But not for you, sweetheart!
After all, Music was the ultimate whore!

And for the sake of timing...
the rhythm of your own heart would, ultimately, bleed!
But who could understand the "root" of your underlying...
psychological motivations for your performance!

How many know and are acquainted with that "gene?"
To make you scared on "wits end," more than scarecrow, himself!
And the "wicked witch" would have her terrify you,
beyond all imagination!

And what about your nerves...
You put to work, on stage, with all your rage?
Then, what about Sid? Your audience will tell you!
They cheered you your own demise!

Then again, what about that "gene,"
combined with your own shyness and an over-bearing mother?
Overwhelmed with all of this...
Why not just go ahead, and jump!

Or, at least, take "the ride?"
Better than a broomstick!
Napoleon will tell you...
and what a ride it was!

Born, myself, with that same "gene!"
Why not choose the fantasy?
If only for the sake of knowing,
that incredible need...
to escape!

And what about the "genie in the bottle?"
For me, it was liquid!
And just an ounce more of saving grace...

Would there be any other alternative, another way out...
to see any forest from the trees?
To see the reality of our own experience, for what it is...
and know who we really are?

Finding the perfect fit in Culver City seemed the answer.
Home at last, all in a dream...home on stage, to never, never-land!
"Off to see the Wizard" of make-believe!
A way out!

The lion and scarecrow would do, for a little while...
not to mention the tin man.
Sixteen years of make-believe, and suddenly...
You were let go!

But not soon enough!
You were trapped!
Trapped in your own skin...but you would win!
Time, and time again!

Until the ultimate fate...
beyond belief...
You did it!
