Knowing What You Did

How are you going to sleep at night?
Knowing what you did just was not right
Taking all someone’s possessions and then having to lie
Yet you feel no guilt though the victims left to cry

You bully and you hassle the person you did wrong
Tell them you won’t see them the words low lives not to strong
Put them away so your advantage you could take
Buying from stolen money the cheapest kind of cake

Riding round in comfort in a vehicle that’s theirs
No act of contrition for you there are no cares
You lived a life of luxury you really lived it up
Holidays and parties all sorts of drinks to sup

Used money that just was not yours to spend
Thought you’d get away with it but now it’s at an end
You’ll have to pay your own bills and stand on your own feet
Go out and earn a penny so your own bills you can meet

For scrounging gets you nowhere, nor my friend’s does theft
The only thing you managed is to leave a loved one quite bereft
Left them with those debt and not much money in the bank
You really should be horse whipped if you want me to be frank

So please don’t play the martyr you had your fun a while
Stop messing with this loved one let them now live with a smile
Slink back under the rock from which you did appear
With you avarice and greed we gladly let you disappear

With your malice and your spite your hurtful words that sting
Let the truth be known let the mud stick that they sling
If you cannot face the person you have wronged
Then go away forever don’t make the agony prolonged

For it is only your guilt that keeps you from their side
For they would forgive you from you they would not hide
All their lives they worked to save for a retirement well earned
Only in their final days to find by loved ones they’ve been burned

So once again I ask you how will you sleep tonight
The sleep of the angels probably as you think you’ve done alright
Other people will pick up the pieces of the mess that you have made
Though mystified is what they are at the way you have betrayed

Someone old a trusting who gave you all they could
But still you wanted more you simply are no good
So stay away forever never visit them again
Hope you realise that you put them through such pain

When one day you grow up and see it’s not all about you
When you’re in a home and it’s your children that screw
You out of your possessions then those words I hope ring true
What goes around comes around and returns twofold upon you
