A Scar From a Lost Cause

Two years has gone by
Had our son and tried to move on.
My heart just couldn’t let go.
Everybody around me
told me to write you off.
That since you did not see our son.
You did not deserve the love I had to offer.
You did not deserve to be in his life.
But two years I tried to message and call.
But all your new girlfriends
tried to make me feel less then what I am
Some were considered friends and they said some pretty terrible stuff
But I never gave up and when it finally all paid off I felt as if a weight had been lift
only to replace by
the emotional fear and baggage of the past
Now I am starting to find it easy to walk away and not care.
But I guess that’s what happens
when you cry so many tears for two years.
You realize when you finally have your lover back
It was probably best to just let you go.
