Heart Song

What is a heart song?
Is it a melodious beat,
a monotonous sound,
a faint murmur
or a joyful noise?

With one heart
it can be all of these.
But, with two hearts
it can become much more,
a symphony of sounds.

Two hearts singing as one,
beating fast after fun,
beating slowly in sleep,
beating synchronized
with one helping the other
when it feels crushed
by the world's trials,
by events beyond control.

One heart can sound
quite quiet, quite alone,
not wanting to sing solo.
But, sometimes that's the life
a heart can lead.

I, for one, believe
that no heart wants to be alone.
They're simply made
to sing together,
to beat together
and be in concert with others.

I'll always have that belief
and my heart's songs
will never be loud and clear
without someone to hold here,
someone close and very dear.
