Where Am I

Where's the firey temper that I used to know
Where's the passion for life and fun
Where's the love that was so strong that
emotions would overspill and make me cry...
... with happiness

Where's the energy I used to feel all day
And the urge to party all night into the early hours
Where's that jealous streak that made me mad
when your focus was on someone else...
... and not me

Where are the days I used to drive for hours
Just to see somewhere new or get a new perspective
Where is the urge to sit out, ignoring the cold
just to watch the moon and stars...
... shooting by

Where does all the time go that I used to spend
On hobbies and things that I enjoyed doing
Why do books lie dusty and un-read on the shelf
Why do I pass over all my high fashion shoes...
... for comfort

inside this quiet, sensible, timid old woman
That sits here, writting these words
Am I there, somewhere, deep down inside
Waiting for what? freedom? release? to finally let go
and to accept, and be this newer, older version...
... of what is still me!
