Simile

People on the left call love an obligation,
People on the right call love a courtesy.
My love is nothing more than a simile
As I might sit comfortably inside of a smile,
Like a pair of irises catching a flare
As they lock onto mine
Like cherry loving lips locked tenderly
Say, ” You’ve got to love lovely love,
You’ve got to love it lovely,
For love, as inscrutable as ever
Sings lovely, as a child might sing for ice cream.”
I look deep into those eyes
Like a dweller would
To a large diamond,
And find myself
Looking back.
