Delusion

He loves me, he loves me not.
I can, but he cannot.
I'm the favorite, that much is clear,
I know he loves me, though he hides it, I fear.

So happy! Wealth and fame are mine,
The center of attention, the star that shines.
All that you have are mine to hold,
I'm confident, pretty, smart, and bold.

I'm living a life that seems so bright,
Being told I'm loved, day and night.
A dream-like life, it seems,
But deep inside, I'm wide awake in my delusionary dreams.

My smile once wide as the sea,
Now fades, for reality has caught up with me.
Staring at the ceiling, watching it all happening,
With music in my ears and a clock that's ticking.
