I Begin, Knowing You Have To Leave

I begin, knowing you have to leave.
And then I forget.
Lazy kisses and conversation,
Make me forget,
And it comes like a punch,
I’m alone again,
Even as we stretch out our goodbye.
I love you.
I miss you.
I wish we were closer.

You wind me up,
Make me forget that you will leave,
Leave me alone again.
And I let you,
because I love you,
I don’t want to let you go.
I will steal every moment you give me.
I will keep it close to my heart,
Maybe these moments will keep me warm,
when I’m alone again.
