A Letter To God

I know you're always busy. You always say you have time for me. The way you handle all you do is hard for me to comprehend. I don't know what your plans are for me. I know what I hope for. You know what I hope for. Well , another year has passed and I am only getting older. The more time passes, the more my hope seems to fade as the eyes of age. As the sun seems to slowly travel across the path of my life the shadows grow longer in the mire. Shallow roots are balled as the palm trees sway in the torrent winds and rain. I firmly hold on waiting to be knocked over or plucked up and swept away. As the storms rage on, I hear your voice and strain to see you and the path you follow. I reach out waiting for you to grab my hand. The debris of past sorrows whipping by leave everlasting marks shame and disgust as others walk by unscathed whispering words of "unclean heathen"... They walk past hurrying to another path. Deeper and deeper I bury the pain. Still, in the quietness of my mind, I play the beginning of what I've learned and experienced. I've seen the love, protection and blessings. I've felt your arms about me. As tears well up and blur my eyes, I know you are there and that you care. Yet softly I weep. Knowing all is well I wonder how much longer must I endure. How much pain will this body carry before it falls to the ground burdened with lies, hatred... darkness... Slowly, quietly and barely seen, a small ray of light shines a path of meaningful hope...
I feel your love reaching toward me and I exhale a sigh of relief...
