My remote experience

I'm new to Pennsylvania as mentioned previously,
a native Marylander, originally.
I bought a small condo and right across the hall,
is one older owner struggling with memory recall.
Last week a new friend of mine came to help me.
We ran a few errands.
I was appreciative as can be.
Of course I'm still grateful with out a doubt, but
as she went to empty my trash, she accidentally
locked us both out..
Our purses, keys and cell phones all safely with in.
I needed to call the maintenance man to get back in again..
I hobbled to the front entrance and we buzzed all other doors,
the nasty man above me was home but blatantly ignored..
My frail sweet neighbor came to the lobby door. I shared what
had happened, the whys, and what for's..
I asked to use her cell phone to call the maintenance man.
I knew he had my spare key, so that was my plan..
She returned a moment later and careful did tote and
handed me her tv remote.
She came to my rescue, so sweetly sincere.
I gently informed here that this won't work dear..
My friend rolled her eyes in an attempt to be discreet,
then took off to find our maintenance man who lives
right down the street.
There is an expression it's fitting to mention.
I've heard it said that "necessity is the birth place of invention".
Perhaps in the near future. I.T. nerds, take note,
this special feature might be offered, making phone
calls from a remote..

Dear Nancy, your "remote experience" poem is incredible! The honesty and the unexpected turn with the remote had me laughing (and feeling the struggle!). It perfectly captures the beauty of finding kindness in the most surprising places. You're a gifted storyteller! - Blessings, Daniel

Sweet, yes! this is a lovely funny story - had me smiling. If only everything had a 'dial home' (or similar) capability. 'Beam me up'. J :)
