"the Tiger and the Lamb" Project

This is a school project that was based on the poem "The Tyger" and "The Lamb" by William
Blake-- the student was to write two poems, one about "the lamb" (innocence, purity, etc.)
and one for "the tyger" (passionate, dangerous, etc.). No copyright infringement intended
to Mr. Blake or 'The Wizard of Oz'.

*"Dorothy"*
From the farm to the sky
She flew, what a switch!
She came down with a thud
On that mean, nasty witch.
Scared and confused
She tried to be brave,
But a few more surprises
The land of Oz gave;
A scarecrow that walked, a lion that talked,
A man made of metal and a witch who stalked.
Somehow, someway
She had to find home,
Thrown in this strange world
Put out all on her own.

*"The Wytch"*
Her sister was dead,
But that's some good news
Just one witch less after
Her red ruby shoes.
The globe of black magic
In front of her shined
With the face of the girl
And the shoes she did find.
Jumping onto her broom
With a cackle, she flew.
She had plans for that girl,
And her little dog, too.

If one of my students had written such a brilliant analogy when I was teaching 12th grade, she would have gotten an A Plus! You show great potential as a future writer and I hope you will continue to grace us with poems like this. Outstanding take on the personality differences in Blake's Tiger and Lamb (one of my favorite poems since childhood). Blessings and love, Carolyn
