Autumn

Just a brown leaf in the breeze flowing on a soft wind as it gently flies
for once a part of a huge oak tree it floats silently with no cries

Freedom from the branch that held it strong for a year
the leaf remembers the bright green days quite clear

Gravity finally finds it a happy resting place
The forest floor smiles as it sees a new face

Free, the leaf lies with many leaves that are all brown and gray
everything seems to have died on this sad gloomy day

The leaf turns to dust as a spring flower brings a bee
only to feed worms, the flowers, and that mighty oak tree
